The Great Seal of the United States was created by Charles Thomson and William Barton and first used in 1782. Our Great Seal of the USA hoodie outfit displays the original seal in a sandstone aesthetic and is printed on apparel using a direct to garment printing process. 

This American eagle hoodie outfit is for men and women alike. There are two designs on the pullover sweatshirt. The front displays a bald eagle holding the ribbon with E Plurubus Unum. On the back is the Great Seal itself.

Both designs were created with an overall sandstone aesthetic. It was only natural to create the graphic design of the Great Seal of the United States in stone because its design, intent, and use have endured as something set in stone. This seal is used by the U.S. military, the President, in documents and presidential papers, and currency. 

The design of the seal took a while to figure out with respects to the final look. I was able to start with the vector image of the seal and the eagle, thankfully. From there I created the circle of stars from our other America 250 designs, copied the ribbon with E Plurubus Unum from the Great Seal and used it to put in the eagles mouth for the front design. This added more appeal than just a lone eagle.

The font choice for 1776-2026, 1782-2026 and the words Great Seal of the USA was a period print shop style typeset from 1776 reproduced as a digital font for today’s use. So, everything about the design needed to feel period-based in order for the experience to be enjoyed. We added one stone aesthetic over the basic graphic and then finished it off with a sand aesthetic over it for the final look – with lots of other technical tweaks and things. 

We were really excited to maintain the vibrant colors of the Seal’s design after the stone effect applications were made. 

Our American eagle hoodie outfit for men and women comes in 4 colors: white, sand, forest green, and black. Sizes range from small to 5XL. The material is a cotton/polyester blend and is super comfortable, has really great quality and fit as our customers have expressed in their reviews.
