One of the best ways to wear your Jesus fish Christian graphic tee is with understanding. In the print on demand, there is a lot of slap a graphic on apparel and sell it even from sellers who are not Christian. Faith-based clothing is just another line item to them. While I don’t care for it, I cannot do anything about it. 

What TrueLight can do when designing for believers is to create with purpose. Every graphic has a story and a message. We do not copy other people’s designs nor are we buying a package of so-called Christian designs to sell. The way we can help others best wear a Christian graphic t-shirt, sweatshirt, hat or hoodie is by creating a design which aligns with their faith.

Believers love to express their faith with what they wear. Christians do not buy any old graphic – it has to say something about their faith and express the experiences the gospel has created in their lives. I mean, why do you wear the type of graphic tees you have in your closet? There’s somethign about it that resonates.

The graphic design here is called Jesus, Fisher of Men. The symbolism used is the ichthys and staurogram. The idea was to pull symbols from the past and put them together in a present day design. Recreating history is a lot fun when you do it correctly. Wearing faith-based graphics can reteach history or bring to life something long forgotten.

With Christians in times of old, they would use the ichthys or Jesus fish symbol to communicate during times of persecution. Using symbols to communicate and locate eachother during times of trouble intrigued me. The ichthys is a story I can put on a graphic! I know the fish is used for other things today but the original reason is what we attempted to capture here and more so by integrating one more graphic to the design – the staurogram.

The staurogram is the oldest greek symbol used to reference Christ on the cross. The capitol P and T overlayed together. The P represents the bowed head on the cross. Again, the idea was to bring together elements that would make the design feel aged and historic and personal! 

The Ichthys Jesus Fisher of Men graphic design was created using Canva(brainstorming), Photoshop(filters), and Illustrator(line creation and vectorization). At first, we wanted just text and let it imply the shape of the fish but it still felt incomplete without adding the lines for the fish. After we settled the issue and lined up the text accordingly, we added the staurogram.

Next, we buttoned up the graphic color: smoke background image overlayed the text with a frosted glass filter for Jesus giving it a shiny silver texture aesthetic and light gray orange color for Fisher of Men. We exported from Photoshop into Illustrator to vectorize it. The final design was exported as a png with transparent background. There you have it…. the history of elements and a brief synopsis of the creation process.
