What Is America’s 250th Anniversary?

In 2026, the United States will celebrate its Semiquincentennial — the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic milestone, also known as America 250, marks two and a half centuries of courage, perseverance, and faith. This celebration is a reflection of what binds us together: faith, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. A journey that began in 1776 — and still continues today.

From the beginning, faith was woven into America’s story. The Founders — though diverse in belief recognized the guiding hand of Providence in their pursuit of liberty. They knew that true freedom required more than independence from tyranny; it required moral strength and godly conviction. They also understood they could lose it all for the freedom they pursued. Many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence did.

This design, as any, started with an idea of faith & patriotism. I began searching though a library of American symbols and began collecting potential elements. The map of the U.S. overlayed with the flag came as a non-distressed vector image, black and white with 1776 in the center of the 13 colonial stars. 

After establishing the text slogan, 250 Years Later, In God We Still Trust, I began the next phase. All original design ideas start in black and white. This allows us to see line, shape, color, texture, pattern, and arrangement: proper use of positive and negative space. At this stage, we work out font choices, placement of the fonts before moving on to color and other things.

I tried the back design on the front first but instantly did not like how it felt, cumbersome for the front of the hoodie which was the garment of choice for the design. The back of the Gildan hoodie became the obvious location which meant a front design was to be created for an enhanced, stylish, purposeful look. Thankfully, as I thought on it, the front design became clear; simply use part of the back design, thus tying both together.

First, I added 1776-2026 to the center of the 13 stars. After this began the color and distressed phase. In distressing both designs on the America 250 faith hoodie, you now have a graphic with a completely different, deeper feel which is what my wife and I were aiming for in the design. Using software, Photoshop and ChatGpt, we added filters to make the designs look old as if they came from 1776. Color was added to the text and flag in Photoshop using a faux-finish painting method. The colors were duplicated from a picture of an early American flag.

There you have a brief run-down of our design for you. It took hours but those who have purchased the patriotic America 250 hoodie are super happy. One young lady said,

As America approaches its 250th year, we know the world has changed — but the foundation hasn’t. Our America 250 faith hoodie comes in five colors: white, ash, sport grey, light blue, and sand. Sizes range from small to 5XL. We created two designs; one logo style for the front and a full graphic design for the back.
